Everything here is on one level, built around a pool under the oak trees. The game room holds a pool table, a dartboard and an NBA Jam arcade cabinet. The backyard has the pool, an outdoor dining table and a fire pit, with room left over. Randall's grocery, Starbucks, Craig O's Pizza, Juiceland, Russell's Bakery and Yamas are all within walking distance.

The space

The home is on one level and flows from room to room. The dining room sits at the center, with a large table and an office nook off to the side. The kitchen is to the right. Straight ahead is the living room, with a pull-out couch and a TV.

Off the main areas, the dedicated game room has a pool table, a dartboard, an NBA Jam arcade game and another TV.

The bedrooms are spread across the home for privacy. The primary suite has a king bed and its own bathroom. One guest room has a queen bed, the other has 2 twin beds. There are 3 bathrooms in total, plus a full laundry room for longer stays.

The backyard is built around the pool, set under the oak trees. There is an outdoor dining table for group meals, a fire pit for the evening and space around all of it.

A few notes

This is a quiet residential neighborhood, so no parties or loud gatherings. Keep noise at a reasonable level through the day, and after 9pm nothing should carry beyond the property line. That is a City of Austin rule.

No smoking anywhere on the property. No pets. Children need an adult with them at the pool.

The neighborhood

A cul-de-sac with walkable errands.

Leafy residential streets, with real walkable amenities just beyond the cul-de-sac gate. Randall's grocery and Starbucks are right there, along with casual spots like Craig O's Pizza, Fajita Pete's and Juiceland. Russell's Bakery, a local institution, is a short stroll, and Yamas serves Greek nearby.

Downtown Austin, Zilker Park and the Domain are each a short drive, which covers live music, greenbelt trails, shopping and festivals. The backyard is what you come back to at the end of it.

Guest Haus was a great place for our family’s trip to Austin. It was a very clean place, the host was great at communicating and sending reminders, and the house had just what we needed for our stay.

Accommodations were okay, home was older.
Things we liked:
- Game room was fun, enjoyed the pool table
- Kitchen was stocked with the necessities
- Pool: nice to have a private pool to take a dip in with a nice patio
Things we didn't like:
- Location: neighborhood being updated
- Pool: Needs updated maintenance equipment, too much debris in the pool
- Restroom and bedroom doors that did not close.
- Living room TV: Could not find remote.

Overall, the location was great for easy access to and from the city of Austin. However, the doors to the bathroom off the living room and the bedroom/bathroom off of the pool table room do not close. This was a minor inconvenience as we had multiple guests staying with privacy issues. We also could not use the pool as it didn’t seem clean, despite host telling us a pool service comes every Wednesday to clean it. Jets did not turn on to circulate water and bottom of pool felt slightly slippery, with patches of what appeared unclean.

This was a great stay for a long weekend in Austin - especially for the pool, which made the Texas heat bearable! The home is centrally located in the greater Austin area and it was really easy to get around from there. The coffee shop around the corner was also a great convenience! Very communicative hosts, a clean and updated home, and a great pool -- we would absolutely stay here again!
