The main home on the Mount Vernon property, with dark walls, warm light, sculptural furniture and art that holds the room. The ground floor runs from a private gym through a chef's kitchen to the living room, and floor-to-ceiling windows frame the pool. Outside there's a heated pool and hot tub, a pergola over the dining table, an outdoor cinema on a side wall, a fire pit circle and a putting green. The game room next door, under the loft, comes with it.

The space

The ground floor is a seamless flow from the private gym to the chef's kitchen to the living room, each space bleeding into the next. The gym is fully equipped. The kitchen has a wide quartz island, professional appliances and enough counter space to actually cook. The living room has dark walls, exposed beams, a gold equestrian canvas that commands the room, and a green velvet sectional. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the pool.

3 bedrooms, 3 different personalities. The primary suite has a botanical wallpapered vaulted ceiling, a burnt orange velvet king headboard, a daybed with a trundle for 2 more, a private balcony over the pool, a walk-in closet with a vanity nook, and an ensuite spa bath with a freestanding soaking tub. Guest bedroom 1 is bright, with a queen and a twin-over-twin bunk under soaring ceilings and a hand-drawn botanical mural across the feature wall, sleeping 4. Guest bedroom 2 is the bunk room: 2 twin-over-twin bunk beds with trundles for 2 more twin beds, dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows and a sculptural cognac leather bench at the center, sleeping 6.

Out back, the heated pool and hot tub anchor a warm wood deck lined with sun loungers. A pergola shades a dining table that seats 10 or more, with a gas grill ready and string lights overhead. On the side of the home, an outdoor cinema projects onto a white wall with 4 seats and 2 loungers. The front yard is its own scene: a fire pit circle with 8 Adirondack chairs and a putting green.

The game room next door is a lounge with a full-size pool table, dark walls, a woven chandelier, green velvet and cognac leather seating, a flat screen TV and a Marshall speaker.

Guest access

Booking the Villa gives you private access to the main home, the game room under the loft, the heated pool, the hot tub, the outdoor cinema, the fire pit and the putting green. The loft suite is a separate listing and will have its own guests.

A few notes

A train passes directly behind the property and can be heard from the home. We keep earplugs at the property.

This is a quiet residential neighborhood, so no parties or loud gatherings, and nothing audible past the property line after 10pm, in line with City of Austin rules.

No smoking anywhere on the property. No pets. Children need an adult with them at the pool.

The neighborhood

A quiet street in South Austin.

Mount Vernon Villa sits on a quiet residential street in South Austin. South Congress, with its restaurants and shops, is close by, and so is St. Elmo, where the craft breweries and smaller local restaurants are.

Zilker Park and Barton Springs are close to the home. Downtown is a short drive, and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is a short drive the other way. Live music is easy to find in this part of town on almost any night.

Amazing Airbnb, the house was in a really cool little area. The pool and backyard were incredible. The train was never overly loud, and did not bother us while sleeping at all. Everything about this house was perfect. Anytime I visit Austin with friends I will try and book this spot!

We had a wonderful stay at Mount Vernon Villa. The home is beautifully designed with high-end finishes and thoughtful amenities that made it feel both luxurious and welcoming.
There were a few minor issues on arrival, but the host responded quickly and resolved them. We also noticed a small design flaw with some kitchen drawers and the pool was quite warm due to the summer heat, though neither significantly impacted our stay.
The location isn’t very scenic and you can hear a nearby train, but it’s conveniently close to SoCo and Barton Springs. The home’s amenities—like the game room, pool, mini golf, and stylish interior—more than made up for it.
The bedrooms were comfortable, and the kitchen was well stocked with essentials, including coffee options and spices. Thoughtful touches like board games added to the experience.
Overall, this was a fantastic place for a family vacation. Despite a few minor drawbacks, we would happily return and recommend it to others.
